Welcome to Panhandle Live Edge, a small business specializing in building Live Edge Tables!
During a military deployment to Africa, I learned of these beautiful trees in the region called Sapele. With very high density and being harder than walnut, this species of wood makes the perfect slab for live edge tables. Ever sense then, it’s been my mission on to bring these slabs to the US and create natural-edge tables with them.
Each slab I have varies in width between 3 and 4 feet, and after a 2-year drying process and then going through a 50″ planer to make each side perfectly even, the slabs are ready to be custom-cut to size for a dining or conference table. I have several other species of wood, including Sycamore, Walnut, Oak, and Ash.
Every table I handcraft receives the tender care it deserves, culminating in a finish with Odie’s Oil—a food-grade oil that unveils the wood’s innate splendor. For added convenience, I also install threaded inserts underneath, ensuring effortless mobility for removing legs, as these tables are engineered to stand the test of time. On the bottom of each of my tables is also my personalized wood brand, shown in the photos below.
